Dunstone Hi-Shrink Polyimide is a heat shrinkable polyimide tape that has signifcantly higher temperature capabilities, and provides more compressive force than other high temperature shrinkable tapes.
Its primary application: providing an external compressive force to fully consolidate the higher cure temperature, thermoplastic resin systems now available.
The tape provides a very simple and effective means to produce an end product, often without the need for vacuum bagging or autoclaving. This would apply generally to products made in tube, rod or cylindrical form.
Hi-Shrink Polyimide is a modified polyimide that has been reoriented in the machine direction, resulting in uniform shrinkage lengthwise only.
The tape starts to shrink under 200° F and reaches its maximum shrink at 700° F (see
Figure 1).
The tape is currently used with prepreg tapes, woven and braided applications and filament wound parts.
We offer .002" thick material in various widths up to 2-1/2" wide. Our standard put-up is on a 1-3/8" diameter core with 100 yards per roll.
